Soul Reapers vs. Zanpakuto

Second Nikki fanfic but this time it isn’t just Ichigo x Nikki episode. No it’s Nikki in some real episodes with action! So I know I’m skipping around but I can’t help it. I wanted to do this stuff for a while. Now that I have more time, I can write since I’m working on bigger art projects. I wrote these fanfics between my times of having artist block but huge writing inspiration. The fanfic is from episode 230, 231, and 233 put together. All of this will be from Nikki’s point of view if she was in the episodes.

Strange things have been happening these past two days. Mikorosu has been acting strange. She won’t manifest when I call her. Whenever I go into my inner world to check on her and my hollow. She acts as if I wasn’t there. My hollow, H-Nikki, told me that something is wrong and Mikorosu kept asking her if she hears a voice too. H-Nikki tells me something is coming, but she doesn’t know what it is yet. I learned to trust my hollow’s instincts and never go against it, when something big is coming. Right now I’m heading to Rangiku’s office to see if the same thing is happening to her. I was about to open the door to her office. I hear her yelling at her zanpakuto again.

 “Come out already!” * I bet her Zanpakutuo isn’t listening to her again. I swear one of these days. I am going to beat the shit out of those two.* I open the door and see her still yelling at her zanpakuto.

 “How dare you call me old lady!? Are you listening?! Stop being such a brat! You’re rude, selfish and lazy! I’d like to see who made such a useless Zanpakuto-”

 “Hey Rei! If you be nicer to your sword, maybe she would listen to you.” She jumps a little. She looks back at me with her hand on her heart.

 “Damn it Cheshire! I swear you and the captain try to scare the crap out of me on purpose!” She sits down on the couch and pats the spot next to her. I sit next to her.

“So has your Zanpakutuo been acting stranger than usual?”

“Yeah it has lately. What about you?”

“Yeah but this is the first time she’s been acting like this. My hollow thinks something is coming. My instincts is telling me to be on guard tonight.” Rangiku is the only one about my hollow and my instincts. She’s the only one I trust to tell her these things.

“I see…I’ll tell the captain to be on guard tonight. But why tonight?” I close my eyes as I cross my arms.

“I don’t know but over the years I learn to trust my instincts. They keep telling me to beware the man who controls Zanpakutou….What do you think it means.” I open my eyes and look at Rangiku.

“I don’t now but-” Toshiro slams the door open.

“There you are Rangiku! What the hell were you yelling about earlier?!” I get up from the couch and pat Rangiku’s shoulder.

“We’ll talk more when you get some free time. I’ll leave you with your captain.” With that I leave the room. I head back to my quarters to see if I can figure out what’s going to happen.

~~ Few hours later, when the sun is setting. ~~~

A hell butterfly flies into my room and lands on my leg.

“Hello, what do you need?” I get a message in my head saying I was being summon to an emergency meeting at the cliffs. * That’s strange why is it at the cliffs? This seems like a trap. I better be on my guard.* I flash step to the cliffs. By the time I get there, I see Rukia, Byakuya, and Renji talking to each other.

“Lieutenant Abarai, and Rukia what’s going on? Why are we having an emergency meeting?” Renji and Rukia flinch while Byakuya glare at me.

“Captain Yami, you scared us! So you don’t know either huh?” I gave Renji a skeptical look.

“Know what, Lieutenant? Not to be rude or anything Rukia but why are you here?”

 “Why is every Captain and Lieutenant being called into an emergency meeting? The head captain called Rukia to join this also. It’s probably important but you wouldn’t know hollow because you weren’t paying attention as always.”

Ok now that just plainly piss me off. I walk up to Byakuya until I was in front of him. We stand chest to chest but I was a little bit taller than him. I got real close to his face. I put my arms on my hips and grin angrily at him.

 “Oh! And what made you think I wouldn’t pay attention huh?! IS it because I’m half hollow or you just assume that because you think Halflings are a weaker race than you normal soul reapers. Oh I know! ~ You don’t like me because I am at a higher rank than you. You don’t think I deserve it because I’m a Halfling right!”

 * Does that damn bastard still not trust me? It’s his own damn fault. Hell if he get over the fact I’m half hollow, maybe I would be nice to him.* He glares harder at me. I felt someone grab my arm.

 “Please stop this Cheshire! The head captain could be hear any minute. I don’t want you to get in trouble.”

“Yes please listen to Rangiku!” 

 I turn around to see Rangiku holding my arm and Momo standing right next to her. I also notice every Captain and Lieutenant were here. I don’t see Captain Zaraki or Yachiru here. Instead see Ikkaku and Yumichika here in there place. I pull my arm out of her grip. I give that bastard one more glare before turning back my attention to Rangiku.

“So Rei, what’s with this meeting?”

“I don’t know…But this fog is getting worse by the minute.” She puts her hand up to my ear and whispers.

“Is your instincts telling you anything?” * ( Be on guard the man who controls Zanpakutous is coming!) * I grab the hilt of my Zanpakutou.  I whisper back to Rangiku.

“Yeah, they are going crazy right now. They are telling me to be ready because that man is near. So get ready Rei!”  She grabs her sword too,

“Right be careful Nikki.” I scoff a little.

“Tsk! You forget who I am sometimes, Rei. You know I’m never careful unless it’s serious.” She chuckles as I punch her arm.

“I know that’s why I said it.”

The fog grow thicker, I heard the sound of someone walking on the bridge. I nudge Rangiku and point to the bridge. She nods and gets her sword ready. The fog finally lifts up and I could see everything.  I see Vice-Captain Sasakibe standing right before us. He has his hand out as if to warn us something. * That’s strange he looks like he’s in shock...Wait a minute!* I could feel Mikorosu spiritual pressure disappearing from my sword. Before I warn everyone, the Vice-Captain falls to the ground.

 “Vice-Captain!”

 “EVERYONE IT’S A TRAP!!!”

 Captain Unohana and her Lieutenant rush over to the Vice-Captain.  Everyone else pulls out the swords. I look around to see if I can find the bastard. Then I feel a spiritual pressure a few feet behind me.  There stands a strange man with freakishly long finger nails. *(Beware girl there stands the man, we warned you about.) / So he’s the reason why Mikorosu disappeared. I was wondering where she went. /* (I’m not going to describe him. You guys can watch the real episode to see what he looks like.) I pull out my sword and rest it against my shoulder.

“Your Head Captain won’t be joining you.”

“Who the hell are you?”  The lieutenants flash step in front of everyone but Captain Komamura flash steps in front of the strange man. * (Don’t get close to the man but help Komamura)* I flash step a few feet behind Captain Komamura. I get in position to help him out at any second.

 “You said the Head Captain isn’t coming, correct? Scum what you did to our Head Captain!?”  The man doesn’t say anything and just kept smirking. I get a cold shiver down my spine. * Shit! Something bad is going to happen!*   I get in my fighting stance. I see the man look at me for a second.

 “No answer? Then I’ll force you to answer!” My shiver gets worse as Komamura pulls out his Zanpakutou.

 “Wait Captain Koma-!” But it was too late. Komamura tries to slice the man but he dodges it. The man throws one hand out in front of him and a strong wind comes out of it. I could feel his spiritual pressure but something was off from it.

 “Everyone get back!!” I jump out of the way as Komamura calls out his bankai. It stands tall above him. *(Get him out of there quick! Something wrong with bankai. He has no control!) What the hell!?!* He makes his Bankai attack but it was coming down to him.

“Look out Sajin!”

  I flash step to him. I tackle him out of the way before the giant sword could hit him. After the dirty stops flying ever wear. I got that shiver again. I spin around to a chest see another man but his spirit pressure feels familiar. He is so much taller than me, so I had to look up. I see fire coming out of his mouth. I grin and hold up my sword.

 “I thought I recognize you, Tengen-.” He swings his sword down at me but I block it with mine. I push his sword off mine and try to slash him. He flash steps away from me. His strap however wraps around my arm. He pulls on the strap but I pull back. My grin got wider.

 “Nice try but not good enough.”

  He looks confuse as I use my hollow strength to pull him off the ground. I swing him around and down into the ground. I cut off the strap that’s on my arm.  I hold my sword out ready to attack but the other captains try to attack. They call out their Zanpakutos Shikai but it didn’t happen.  Everyone tries their Zanpakuto but that didn’t work either. Tengen stands up but doesn’t move. I couldn’t help but do a sarcastic clap. Everyone looks at me like I was nuts. I didn’t pay attention to them. My focus was on this stranger.

 “Bravo, bravo. I was wondering why I couldn’t feel Mikorosu Spiritual pressure. The minute I saw you, she disappeared without a trace. SO tell me freaky nails, what did you do?” I stop clapping and glare at him as he chuckles a little. I put my left hand on my hip and lean my sword on my right shoulder. (I may draw a pic of this to kinda give you an idea.)

 "I see you almost figure it out. What a smart girl, even if you nothing but small, insignificant hollow.” * That doesn’t surprise me. I thought it was very obvious on the count of my ears.*

 “I’ll tell you what happened. Your Zanpakuto are no longer with you. I freed them from you Soul Reapers.” *Now that surprises me.*

 “SO my instincts were right about you. You can control Zanpakutos but what i didn’t know is how you would do it.”

He looks surprise for a split second before he puts his right hand over his face. His right eye starts to tear up and down his face. Except it wasn’t tears, it was blood. Then with the swing of the same arm, explosions went off in the society. Some of the buildings are on fire.

“What the hell did you just do?” I got in my stance again but this tip I was leaning on the palms of my feet. I was ready to launch myself at him.

“It wasn’t me. Your Zanpakuto did it themselves. They have been freed from your imprisonment.” He throws his head back and starts laughing.  I can hear the alarm bells go off and people screaming. I see a glacier shoot out from one of the buildings down there.  The nail guy, wipes the blood from his eyes.

“This is merely a greeting. This is so you will understand how powerful my comrades are. Behold the true forms of the Zanpakuto you thought you owned.” With the raise of his arms, balls of light shoot up from below the cliff and up to the sky. There standing in the air are the physical forms of our Zanpakuto. I see a woman appear from beside me and starts walking to the freaky nails. * Wait that’s!* (I did draw Mikorosu. So she is in my gallery, in bleach oc part.)

“Hold on aren’t you?”  She ignores me. She and the other Zanpakuto stand near the freaky nail guy.

“So freaky nails what can I call you? I’m getting tired of nicknaming you freaky nails. I do believe you have a real name. Am I right?”

 “My name is Muramasa. Tonight brings the end of Soul reaper rule. For now on Zanpakuto will rule over the Soul Reapers.”

 His holds out his right hand, a small blue fire glows and a sword appeared in his hand as the fire goes down. He shoves that sword into the ground before his feet. The ground shoots up underneath him and the rest of the Zanpakuto high into the air. Once it stops some of that ground breaks off and fall to the ground. When the dust finally clears, I see a new make shift cliff with different levels. All the Zanpakuto stood on each one. Mikorosu stands on a level that is closest to Muramasa. 

“What that’s supposed mean?”

“Exactly what it sounds like. I told you, I’ve freed your zanpakuto.” Renji tries his Shikai again but again didn’t work. Some of the Zanpakuto start to chuckle. Captain Kyoraku walks a few feet up from us.

 “I’m taking this little conversation about Zanpakuto seriously but where is Yamamoto? He’s the one who summoned us here. Now will you tell us where he is?”

 “We locked Yamamoto Genryusai away.” I am shock to here this. I had to gasp a tiny bit.

 “His Zanpakuto, Ryuujin Jakka, was unwilling to join forces with us. So your Zanpakuto Kyoukotuse, Kotowari and Minazuki, sealed him away with their spiritual pressure.” I shake my head in disbelief.

 “What?! That’s impossible, there’s no way he could seal our head captain!”  I could tell everyone else is in disbelief also except for Mayuri. For some odd damn reason he seems interested in this.

 “It’s doesn’t matter if you believe it or not. It’s reality.” Ikkaku charges at Muramasa. He tries to attack him but one of the Zanpakuto flash steps and blocks him.

 “Any more conversation’s a waste of time!”

 “Alright let start this shall we!” I charge at the big tan Zanpakuto with the fire-ish orange hair. I swing my sword at him but he blocks it.

 “It seems like you know how to fight! I like that.” I grin madly at him.

 “So do you. ~ It looks like this will be fun.” We go at each other for a minute, until the sound of screaming crying baby is heard. I felt a horrible shiver run down my back. * I don’t like the feel of this!* I look up to see Mayuri’s Zanpakuto has gone into Bankai. By the stuff coming out of its mouth, it’s going to spite poison at us.

“Everyone run!”

“There’s no escape.”

What appears to be Renji’s Bankai, it shoots a beam at us. I use my special flash step and disappear into a mist. Thankfully everyone got out in time. There was suddenly a burst of a huge beam shooting out of the ground. I transport to an open field a mile away from the cliff. I felt helpless that I couldn’t do anything. I hear screaming of some of the Soul reapers below. * Shit! What the hell do I do?!?... Well I guess I better visit Urahara. Maybe he’ll know what going on. This will have to wait though.* after a few hours of fighting some random Zanpakuto. (Which is Renji’s zan by the way.) The Zanpakuto finally retreat but Byakuya disappeared. I got a few scratches but nothing major to go to squad four. While everyone else was healing in the fourth squad’s barracks. I open up a Senkai Gate and enter the real world. After I exist the gate, I step in front of the shop I open the door and see no one in the shop part. I start to look around. * Everything seems to be the same, since the last time I was here. Man does this bring back memories.*

“Hello, anyone here?!” I hear giant steps running coming from behind a screen. I see a shadow appearing from behind the screen. The screen is slams open.

 “I cannot allow not greeting my child after not seeing her for so long! Now come here and give your dad a hug!”

 Tessai jumps at me and tackles me into a hug. I couldn’t help but smile as I hug back my old man. (I will explain what’s going on between these two in another story. I’m going to make one where it all began for Nikki with Rangiku, Nemu and Tessai. It will start with her being a child, to becoming a lieu ant, and then a captain.) I give him a big bear hug.

 “It’s great to see you too dad!”  He lets go of me and starts to pat my back.

“It’s great to see you too daughter. Now how’s my little girl?”  * I will always be his little considering our height.* (She comes up to the top of his chest.)

 I was about to answer him but a boy with red hair appears from the screen dad just came from. The boy doesn’t look any older than 13. He glares at me but I flash him my Cheshire grin.

 “Hey, why they hell did you run off like that Tes-?!? Huh, who the hell are you? Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be reaping? Ha, judging by your looks, I bet you are a lazy ass and-!” I walk over to him and grab the top of his head. My grip on his head is tight.

 “Well little brat, if you had some manners. You would know to treat people who are older than you kinder. It’s like little shits like you that piss me off. Children now a days don’t know manners and are nothing but shitty little brats.” He starts to hit my arm so I would let him go. I didn’t even feel it in fact I tighten my grip even more. He struggles even more.  I lift him off the ground so he’s up to my height.

 “H-Hey that hurts let go of me woman!!” I get real up close to his face and give him the look. He stops struggling and starts to shake.

 “Now listen here dip shit. The next time you disrespect me it will be the end of you….Got it!” He nods his head. Then my dad grabs him out my grip. He throw him up into the air.

 “I can’t allow this! Jinta you show your elder some respect!” I sweat drop a little. * Damn he makes it sound like I am old. Well technically I am but that doesn’t matter though. And here we go again.* He puts me into a head lock but I hold him off from putting me into the ground. I hear a thud behind us.

 “Ouch!”

 “You my daughter, I can’t allow you to act this way! You should have let me punish him instead of you threating him.” This makes me laugh.

 “Hahaha then how will he be scared of me? ~ Huh dad, the little shit would probably see me as a challenge and try to fight me next time.” He cross his arm and nods his head.

 “That is very agreeable. Anyway are you here to see Rukia? She’s in our recovery room. Boss is with her right now, so you will have to wait a bit.” * So that’s where she went.*

 “Actually dad, I’m here to see your boss.” He looks at me with concern. (She is the only one who can see through the glare on his glasses.)

 "Let me guess, it’s the Zanpakuto isn’t?” I slowly nod. He sighs and sits on the stairs. He pats the spot next to him. I sit down next to him.

 “You better sit down. Right now he’s almost done discussing it with Ichigo, Rukia, Chad and Uryu. So he probably won’t explain it again with you since you probably know more.” I sigh.

 “Of course he wouldn’t. The man hates explaining things twice….Could you tell me what he thinks is going on?” He gasp and acts like he is shock.

 “Now what makes you think I would know?! I am horrified you would think I would be in that conversation, when it has to do nothing with the shop.” I give him a big pat on his back as he crosses his arms again.

 “Because you and I both know you would ease drop on him, no matter what. You want to be able to help him in anything. SO fess up dad!” He chuckles as he holds his hands up in surrender.

 “You caught me daughter! Hahahahah! Who would of thought my own daughter knows me so well. Alright I’ll tell you what’s going on.” I could help but let out a small chuckle. As he tells me what Urahara and Rukia has told everyone else. Basically it was everything I knew except how it’s not effecting the Zanpakuto here.

 “So Urahara’s and Ichigo’s Zanpakuto haven’t manifest and turn against them!?! All because they aren’t in the soul society!?!? Don’t you think you could have told me that first dad!?!” I bonk his head but I know it won’t hurt him. Hell I knew it wasn’t going to faze him. He chuckles as he swats my hand away.

 “How was I supposed to know? By the way any news on Byakua yet?” I shake my head.

 “Nothing but the last thing I heard is he was swallowed by his own Zanpakuto. Knowing him however, I bet he’s still alive. Right now we got squad 2 looking for those Zanpakutou, while Mayuri is looking into this and more phenomenon.” He nods his head.

 "I see….Well I better get back and get more Rukia more medicine. I know you want to get back and see if there is any way to solve this problem.” He gets up and ruffles up my hair.

“Good luck my daughter. You’re going to need but I know you can do it. Also good luck on finding your Zanpakuto. I just pray she won’t get to out of hand.”

 “I know….I know.” He walks away as I summon another gate.  After a second, I end up in front of Squad 4 Barracks. I walk into the area where most of the patients are in. It’s really busy today, which is no surprise. I run into Captain Unohana. 

 “Why, hello Captain Yami! I didn’t expect to see you here. Is there something wrong? Are you in need of some medical help?” I shake my head but I don’t look her in the eye.

 “Is it Captain Komamura?” I nod my head slightly. She point down a hallway.

“I’m going to his room myself. Would you like to come?” I nod again.

“Thank you.” I follow her into the room Sajin is in. I could help but grunt in shock to see Sajin still unconscious in  bed. * But how?.... Must have been one of them that attacked him while I was facing that tan one…* I look over to Unohana. She gives me the go ahead nod. I enter the room and stood by his bed side. Just looking at him being unconscious, it breaks my heart. I fist my hands in sadness and anger.

“Dammit Sajin, I wish I could of help you. I swear if I find the Zanpakuto that did this to you. I will make them pay severally. They will pay the price when people mess with family.”  I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. I stop tensing and relax my body. I turn to see Nemu.

“N-Nemu. What is it?” She let goes of my shoulder.

“You know he’ll be alright. If he was awake right now and see how sad you are. He would tell you not to worry about him.” I felt a little bit more relief.

“I know Nemu. So what’s going on?”

“Right I just got done reporting to Captain Unohana and Lieutenant Ise on the Zanpakuto. It seemed like you weren’t listening. So I shall tell the report again.” She explains what Mayuri has found and how he wants to test every captain. I sweat drop from imaging his procedures.

 “So will you do it, Nikki?”

 “Could I do a rain check on that?” She shakes her head.

 “Fine….But only if you are there because I don’t want him to test me more than he needs to. Last time that happen I nearly lost an arm.” She nods and walks away. So I follow her to get this ‘testing’ stuff done.
